Default socal: 07 springer cost

Well, as this is my first post here, I was hoping the subject line would say something like "just picked it up tonight...."...

I hope talking about prices isn't against the rules here, but didn't see anything about it reading through the faqs, so here goes.

I have been looking at this '07 olive/black springer sitting at my local dealership in the san diego areafor the last several months. Apparently, either no one likes the olive, or the springer for some reason. Anyway, I just quickly talked about price with these guys and am pretty much heading down in the morning to buy the bike. They were somewhat suggesting that they really wanted that bike to leave the dealership at this point, so the initial talk was 20k out the door including tax/all fees.... Basically, 18k for the bike, 1350 for tax and about 500 buried somewhere in there for beer for the sales guys.

Anyway, is this a good time to haggle for an 07, or does 20k otd sound like a pretty standard deal to you all.

thanks.

ps moderator: if i'm breaking "no posting of dealer prices rule", just delete the post and slap me.

To me it may seem a little high, I thought they where giving buyer incentives to get rid of 07's for 08's but I think this is last year of this bike and they may be playing that game, but I think you could buy 08 for better price un-less this is your dream bike, but may be others will help you out, I just think it is on high side, does it come with factory alarm? Thats $300.00, is there other people wanting this same bike too? If not see if you can get some extras, but $20,000.00 for 07 is high when truck loads of 08's are backing in, alsoit is new but really a 1 year old bike, may lose a little when or if ever re-sell, they stopped making that model because no one was buying them, its your money, hell I bought a 06 C.V.O. not cheap! GOOD LUCK! PURPLE HAZE.

If an 07 it's a screaming eagle and msrp is 24,995 base. So 18,500 doesn't sound bad to me.

Out my way they weregiving away $1000 worth of parts, accessories or clothing if you bought the 07, plus no shipping or setup charges. All total it came out to about $1800 for buying a bike that would be one model year old in a matter of weeks.

I just checked and it is $18,020.00 M.S.R.P. but if it has been there for months and they wanted it gone tell them they have a deal if they take a GRAND off or no dice, and if the say no, get up and walk out and see if they dont call you on phone before you get home and if not buy it! But you will be paying full price for a 1 year new bike, what happened to all the deals that they where going to have? And if you buy it and its been there for months if you ever want to trade or sell it you may take a big hit! Have you looked at 08's? They are same price un-less C.V.O. PURPLE HAZE.

I looked at the '08s, but I wanted a springer. I would imagine I can just throw a springer on an '08 deluxe. But, since 07 marks the last year of the springer classic, at least for a few years, I thought I'd just go for the 07.

I'll offer them 16k for the bike and see if they want to unload it. If not, looks like an '08 deluxe might be a better catch instead. Damn, choices, choices.

thanks for the replies.

edit: yeah, 08 cvo springer is out of my budget, plus I'm not a real fan of it's look.

later.

Buddy of mine just purchased a red/black 07 Springer for $16,000.00. Didn't even have to haggle, asked the salesman what's the least he would take, salesman replied $16,000.00. Dealer threw in 1K service, battery tender, and alarm. Needless to say, my buddy jumped right on it.

If you're buying the bike from San Diego HD, then the price is normal...[:@] or their downtown dealership. They tend to jack the price anywhere from $2-$5,000 higher than anywhere else in town and they usually won't do any bargaining or throw in extras.
They've got plenty to choose from but not the kind of people I want to do business with.
