12v power outlet
Hello all,
I have the Dock and Rock and use it w/ my MP3 player. However, on long trips my MP3 player obviously runs out of juice. I want to hook up a cigarette lighter (power outlet) to charge the battery. Any ideas? Oh ya, I searched for it, but did not come up w/ anything.
Thanks!

RE: 12v power outlet
heres how i did my power source on my fatboy.i got the super smart harley battery tender to charge the battery this winter.http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US
i did not want to remove the seat to charge it so i got the Battery Charging Harness: http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US
it gives me a plug beside the seat just above the frame.
the good part is this i can plug in any 12volt source into it. i got a second harness the are 180 type harness cost 7.95 and can plug into each other. you just cut the end off and connect it to any type of lead you need. it is fuzed inline so no worries about shorting the battery. just have to make sure you dont leave stuff hooked up when the bike is not running.
I have a lighter plug from walmart with a spring loaded door that i can hook up and charge my cell phone if needed on a day trip. i mostly use it as a charger butit will also work for my chatterbox intercom.
I am thinking of getting one of those chrome tool boxes for the side and mount the lighter plug inside of it.

Hi Doug,
Do you have a battery tender pigtail attached to your battery? If so, it has an SAE-type plug at the end. All you need to do is buy another SAE plug and splice it onto the end of your MP3 player's power cord. Zip-tie the excess cord to the bike's frame neck (or cut to size). Then when you want to use the MP3 player, just put the two SAE plugs together and you're good to go.
That's how I power my Garmin GPS on the bike.
Alternative;y, ypu might find a cord with an SAE plug at one end and a lighter adapter at the other end. Try these folks for that.
