Default Small Project - Deluxe Build... Kinda

So the time has finally come to attempt to transform my Deluxe into what I've been thinking of. Finally was able to convince the wife that this was a great investment for me especially given the pandemic and being able to ride with my old man and have some good times.

First, came ordering all the stuff I could afford to put on the bike all at once and then came the waiting game!

List of parts
  1. Hard Saddlebag Brackets (Cycle Visions)
  2. Hard Saddlebags
  3. Axle Nut covers (super tiny cosmetic thing)
  4. Dash Tail Trim (had to add more chrome)
  5. Samson Fish Tail Exhaust
  6. Vance and Hines FP3
Starting Pic

Day 1

Exhaust was supposed arrive today so decided I'd get started by removing the exhaust and working on adding the saddlebag brackets.

Bags mounted!

Excuse the messy garage, but exhaust should arrive tomorrow and I can start working on that! More to come... any advice, comments etc welcome!

This is exactly what makes all the difference in setting your bike apart from everyone else, you're own styles, taste and flair. It's the little hardware that most guys miss.

Very true, probably one of my favorite things about owning a harley, you can truly make it yours.

Lol I thought about it after I wrote it, only reason I want it cleaner is cause I want my wife's sh*t out and more harley's and my poker table in the garage

When I retire I'm fishing and riding even more... less cleaning not more

Day two update:

Samson exhaust has arrived! (FedEx sucks btw)

Installation:

There were a few places where this was a real pain, but for the most part went pretty smooth considering I did all of the disassembly yesterday. Here's what you're really here for, the pictures.

I'm super stoked about how this build is coming along. I am considering ditching these saddlebags before I paint them to go with the stretched bags, I think it just makes sense that the bags be longer to get closer to the pipes if not cover some of them. Also have to order the filler piece for in between the bags, the bolts showing from the rear is a bit ugly.

Still not done, this is everything mocked up. Need to tighten everything up, re-tune the bike and go for a test ride so that I can change the oil out. That may have to wait for this weekend so that my test ride can be out to "The Seat Guy" to start a new seat for me haha.

Thanks for followin so far everyone, it's some fun working on your own sled.

I agree! I'm retired and just barely have room for the bike... I do move some **** around now & then and even toss some!
What I have learned about retirement: I ain't got as much $$$ coming in but I do got a lot more time to spend $$$.
