Default Modifying passenger pillion on Mustang Wide touring seat

Just got this used wide touuring seat for my 02 Fatboy. It is super comfortable and my wife loves it, but the passenger pillion sits ridiculously high. Has anyone here shortened the height of a seat. Maybe replacing the foam with gel pad inserts or something? I would like it to still be comfortable for my wife.

Consider sending the seat out to Mean City Cycles. They will do everything you just described, I've had 2 seats plus my pillion, all done in memory foam upgrade. GF is thoroughly pleased and I am as well. Hours and hours of riding, and days on end, no problems.

My wife complains about the height as well. I think that's a softail thing. Try Mean City, they are great.

I emailed Mean City the other day. They replied within a few minutes. Anyways, the guy said that there is not a whole lot they can do for that particular seat. He said the tall passenger pillion actually does not have that much foam in it, but has an extra skin of sheet metal underneath. This is what sits it up so high. He said he could lower it, but it would not be as comfortable as the stock seat.
