Agree with above recommendations.....
While the 2017 Twin Cam with have bigger displacement, and is newer... it will take some $$$$$, time, and effort to make it fit... it is NOT a direct swap..
Also, your 2001 bottom end will have left side Timken bearings, a forged crank, and probably a MUCH better run out measurement..
If you have fairly low miles on the 2001, just do a 95" or 98" big bore kit to include headwork and good cams... you will far outperform any OEM 103"....
If you have high miles, get a reputable shop to rebuild the bottom end (if you can't do it yourself) while increasing the bore, better pistons, cams, and headwork...
I suspect you will have less $$$ in a rebuild with big bore, than to fit the '17 103" into a 2001 bike... and in the end you should will have a better, faster engine...
