I pick up my 2008 Anniversary Fatboy on Saturday
With checkbook in hand (for the deposit), a filled-out credit app, and my copy of a spreadsheet to itemize my purchase for a softail custom, I was all set to start the order process. (I thought).
Then my salesman winked and said "come see this". He walked me back to an alcove area adjacent to the mechanic's shop, and there sat three anniversary bikes that had just come in. I was told they were being left back there because they weremissing some paperwork that would prevent their immediate sale so they wern't going to the showroom just yet.
IMHO the copper-clad is stunning and overwhelming. I have posted about being on the fence between the Custom and the Fatboy, but when I saw that copper Fatboy it was lust at first sight. I feel very lucky.
Even though my salesman was offering below MSRP on the 07s, wonderful (and better interest rates), there was no turning back from my totally busted budget.
At a discount, I've added a sissy bar &pad, rear fender rack, speedo/tach combo, removablelow smoked windshield, mustache engine guard, and the alarm system (already installed). I will mail-order for a Boss Bag and then begin to kiss my wife's butt for the rest of her life.
My serial placard states (on the console above the ignition switch) that my bike is #222 of 4000 anniversary fatboys to be made.
Some of my accessories are on order so not everything will be installed when I pick it up on Saturday morning. It will be the following Saturday before I snap all the pics. I can't wait.
Noticeable changes to the fatboy for 08 is thicker/beefier riser, fat handlebar, front tire is centered on axel and without cutouts on the forks, adjustable floorboards (I think), and the rider's seat flap doesn't seem cut the same (which would rub rear fender paint on the 07s). The viewgraphs from the dealer bash in Nashville claims new throttle-bodies for all 08s but I don't have confirmation from my sales or parts guys.
