RE: I pick up my 2008 Anniversary Fatboy on Saturday
Even though I have all the same stuff, I didn't buy a rider (essential's) kit. I wanted permanent mount sissy bar, differentbackrest pad, different fender rack, and a different quick-release windshield. I got everything discounted by 12% (or so) from MSRP catalog prices (including their labor to install).
Altogether I spent an additional $1k (about) on the instant add-ons, oh yea, I also added an engine guard. I just installed an after-market fender-rack leather bag (Boss Bag model #65) and have replaced the passenger pegs and added matching pegs to the outside of the engine guard.
I need to take some more photos, and I'll post them as soon as possible.
Cheers!

Hey PoorBoy, I'll look for you at the next few rallys (Octoberfest not too far away). One mod you didn't mention was changing the pipes. I had the same setup on my Deluxe (upper pipe above the passenger peg). After my wife burnt two sets of expensive boots I went with the Vance & Hines BSS. That put both pipes below the pegs and fixed the problem. Yeah Seminole Harley is good people but I had to get a price from Daytona Harley before they would deal with me. Once I told them the price I had from Daytona they dropped their price by about 1K. Considering all the $ I've spent since then that was a small part of the whole cost. Enjoy that cool looking bike.

Yup pgh,
I paid: $18615 for the bike. Plus $1024 for all the accessories (including labor); bringing my pre-tax total to $19638. After tax, fees, and trade-in allowance, my "out the door" price (loan amount) dropped to$16012. I got 5.99% for 60 months through Harley's Eaglemark finance company.
Depending how you itemized$23k we are in the same ball park.
More than price, I think it is all about availability from one dealer to another.
Regards.

Hey Marty,
I've already asked for a couple of days off in October to be able to enjoy Biketoberfest. I do want to change the pipes and I have decided to stay consistant with our forum brothers by sticking with V&H. It is hard right now to pick what will fit, some sites don't even talk about the 2007 models, let alone 2008.
But asfolks mention on other threads, it is not just pipes. I should get the SERT, maybe an air cleaner too. It roughly looks like a $1k upgrade, plus labor. I will be saving for this, hoping by year's end I'll be able to lose the stock exhaust.
I am so loving my ride right now, but also knowing that it can get better. I guess this feeling will never stop. Hee hee.
Once the Daytona bash dates get close, we'll see if our paths can criss-cross. Better than shareing out thoughts and ideas over the forum would be doing the same over a beer!

Yeah, I hear you. I don't want to drain your wallet any more than it is already. But after I put the new pipes on, plus the quiet baffles, plus the K&N air cleaner, plus the SERT remap, the bike ran a bunch better. Think of it as a birthday gift you canlook forward to when you're ready to spend the $$. See you in Oct.
