what's with all the "when I break down" attitude, I'm English so I have no axe to grind, but I have faith that a nearly new Harley aint going to leave me stranded anytime soon
I agree. The major reason to get a carb is because it's modification friendly and you don't loose performance, fuel economy, or elevation compensation. What you do loose is convenience and you'll have to clean it periodically if you don't ride the bike often.

OK, so if I know Im going to want a big bore, cams, heads done, ect. and who knows maybe a super charger, ect. if that isnt enough I should go with the carb? FI wont be able to handle these mods?

turfpor,
Not at all, the FI will handle the mod fine. When you go to that extreme the stock carb might need changing and a new carb will cost you around the same amount as a power commander for FI. So with such heavy modfication it might not matter. The little mods is what gets you. It's a lot cheaper to do exhaust/intake mods with a carb. The stock CV carb should be good for up to 90-100 hp (at the rear) at which point it becomes restrictive. So it's cheaper to work with the carb up to 90-100 hp.

True! They may still be American made (right up there with Chrysler) but at least they're not AMF bikes anymore.
