Default Wider back tire on a Deuce?

I've already search the forum and found some info on this, but not exactly what I was looking for. My dad likes the looks of the Night Train 200mm rear tire, and is interested in putting a wider rear on his '07 Deuce. What's the widest he can go on the stock Deuce rim without modifications? 180mm or 200mm? Thanks!

You can do a 180mm with stock settings i believe. If you want to get a 200mm you'll need to change the belt and pully, and if you're running a lower chain guard you'll need to fit the 06 version to get the clearance you need. Exact specifications will be dependant on the rim you use and the hub/spacer combo as all manufacturers are slightly different. I've got the 200mm on mine and when it was being fitted the dealer had the 180mm fitted out and standing next the to the 200mm for comparison... it was no contest, the 200mm looked better but it will cost you more in installation.

Mine's a Metzeler (spelling?) as thats what the dealer had avaialbel. I believe AVON have a product thats also suitable. It was a bit slippery being run in, but thats prolly pretty standard given the weigh of the bike. It's good now.

Default RE: Wider back tire on a Deuce?

I am approaching tire change on my 05 Deuce. Would like a 180 to get a bit more beefy look from the rear but do not want to do any modifications and also retain spoked front. I am lowered 1 1/2". There is the Screaming Eagle 180 I guess which probably slips on but I would like matching front/rear if plausible and think it is the ideal time to move to Metzeler or Avon. I have looked at charts etc from both manufacturers but neither seems toinform well on Deuce options. Searches here and elsewhere do not really address BOTH front and rear and are difficult to wade through. I do not want to overlook another possibility either, such as Michelin or Bridgestone for example. I am fairly confident that I am not the only Deuce rider with this question, so if you havea solutionthen your time to input opinion and actual experiencewould be most appreciated. John

I have a 180 Screamin' Eagle on mine with no modifications. I didn't change out the front tire, though, when I changed the rear. I have the bike in the shop now having service done and a dyno tune. I'm also having them replace the front tire. I just told them it needed to be replaced. I have no idea what they're putting on it though. My guess is it's going to be another stock tire, which is fine with me.
