Default 19" Front Wheel on a Fat Boy

I talked to one of the folks at Hogpro today about a front wheel for my 07 Fat Boy (very helpful folks to deal with). He said that if I go with a 19 on the front, I will have to use a radial tire. He says that is should not be a problem to have a radial on the front and a bias ply on the rear. I wanted to throw this out to the group to see if anyone has experienced problems with this set up or found it to be OK, as I really like the look of the 19" inch wheel. My sport bike, which is an 88 Hawk GT, came with bias ply tires, but I long ago went with Avon radials front and back for better handling.

Thanks Brent.

Loader has 19" up front, w/Metzler ME880s front and back. I zoomed in on his BOTM pics

If you go 19", you can keep your fender/mounts the way it is, tire up front is low profile, and skinnier than stock (120).It looks siiicckkk... I like this look w/baggers too...They can get 21" up front....nice.

Again (as I've posted elsewhere before) check out the Renegade site as you can see what the tire will look like as you go w/a taller wheel. Compare 16, 18, and 19. http://www.renegadewheels.com/Bikes/FatBoy/Select.html

I agree, the baggers look great with the 21" wheel. Why is it that a FL softail cannot go with a 21?

CNC, do you have to do some modification to either the fender or fender mt. for a 21 on an FL?

I was under the impression a 21" could just be put right in there. Hambone has a 2000 HeritageI believe and he has a 21". Looks sweet. I gotta save some dough and find a wheel that is not spoked. I don't want spokes...

It should fit right in. If it's close, you can open up the fender mount holes and raise the fender a tad to help it. I use metzeler tires, they don't grow at high speed.

I'll be doing a 21 on my Deluxe soon!
