New twist on heat
I've read a lot of issues dealing with heat on the '07s and WAS glad I did not have a problem. Then a couple of days ago I started getting extreme heat from only the right oil can. I have 1,600 miles and had sinthetic put in at the thousand.
I'm already worried about the dealer just telling me that's the way it is, but it's hot!
And my question, after 7 weeks and 1,600 miles, what caused a change??

Is it a Dyna? They have the tank on one side and the battery on the other.

The softail's have the oil tank on the right side under the seat. I am guessing he is feeling the heat on his right leg fromthat tank. Why the difference now from before I could only guess differentride conditions (more stop go)and or outside temps. The synthetic oil may transfer heat better and therefore transfering it from the engine to the oil tank and feeling the heat radiant away more then before.

Man4mopar is right. I'd rather have the heat going out of the bike than the inside. It's manageable, how? ride faster
Seriously, the '07s run leaner, all this complaining about this and that, but people don'tseem torealize we are sitting only inches away from a big engine. The heat has to go somewhere, it would be a disaster if the heat is trapped in your engine. It's the nature of this AIR cooled bikes. Relax, ride safe and enjoy, I do.

Kinda hard to miss it the oil tank since the dip stick is right there too.Thetank is nicely chromed on both sides of the bike.It could be that your feeling more heat on the right side becase the pipes contribute to the heat on that side too. The pipes cast of quite a bit of heat!!!.. Just a thought.
