Default rim width on 07 softails

Hello, I really dig the solid chrome rim the softails have with the wheel upgrade. I am wondering if someone knows what the rim width is. The HD site isn't telling me. I am guessing they are 5.5" or maybe 6" since they have the 200 rear tires. Thanks in advance for any help.

I was looking at one of those chrome wheels that was marked for an 06 FXSTB or FXST yesterday in the dealer and when I asked about it and my Custom he said that it would fit fine as the 07's have the exact same5.5" wide wheels as the 06's.

I know, that's why I was looking at the wheel in the first place. Unfortunatly for $1199 I think I can get a better deal nearly ANYPLACE else.

That's interesting. My '06 rear wheel has 17x6 stamped on it. Perhaps he was mistaken? But I also read the axle on the '07's is metric now, too. Actually Frank, didn't we have that discussion once before?

Dave,
You may be right,I maybe getting senile in my old age. However I never knew that the wheel sizemight be a stampedon the wheel itself until now. So just for grins I grabbed a flashlight andwent out into the garage to take a look see.
What do you know, your right they are stamped with the size. Mine has 17 X 6.00 stamped on it right behind the brake rotor. Its literally right behind the rotor, but I got lucky and on mine is readable through one of theslots in the brake rotor.
Thanks Dave, I learned something new today.

Actually, I was talking about the metric axle. But maybe that was someone else and I'm the senile one???

Dave,

Don't worry about it, I'm not sure and couldn't care less. Besides I learned something new today.
That's one nice thing about hitting57. If I forget something I canblameit on old-timers and it might even be true, I can't remember. But the up side is that I get to make new friends every day.

Frank
