Default Fatboy 2001 FLSTFI Question

Hello I am from uk and have owned this fine motor cycle for over 10 years but have done perhaps only 5000miles of the 20k on the clock . My question is : I have read that this Harley model has issues with Tensioners so can anyone suggest the best way forward to fix this problem and Do members think that Giving engine numbers ect will guarantee that the parts bought perhaps over the internet from USA will be the correct parts . . Any suggestions would be welcome and thanks .

There are several ways to fix the spring tensioners, from just changing the tensioner shoes, to replacing the cam plate with a newer style that has the hydraulic tensioners, up to changing to gear drive cams... fixes can range from a few hundred to $2500 depending on the fix you choose, and if you have a shop do all the work...

If you search this forum, you will get a few hours of reading that will go over the various fixes.....
