retail, high or low, is what a dealership or car lot will charge. if you are selling it yourself, you need to be looking at private party values. the price will be considerably less.

I think allot depends on were you live.
Currently on CL (2012-1016 range):
$10,000 with 15K & one with 30K to 13,250 with 1.6 K.

We have a bunch of bikes listed (some have been for sale for 6-8 months).
My last bike I traded in, IMHO I got more than if I had sold it myself.
Plus I got the tax break for the value of the bike from the state.

Check your local craigslist or trader and see what some are asking. Still it doesnt mean what they went for.

I do keep a watch on CL prices are all over the place. I ended up selling it for 9500. With 2800 miles on it the guy got a great deal. But at 10k I just got no phone calls. Rumble on offered me 8600 for it. Bike prices are just in the toilet compared to several years ago. I sold some militarily to a guy in Pennsylvania and we got to talking on the phone. He is a hard core biker. Getting older and had over 100 bikes. He can not ride any more and still have a couple of Knuckle heads and some other vintage bikes he says he just can not let go of. I asked him about price and he said its all over. Bikes are just not selling very well at all.

Extremely accurate statement. Many sellers think their bike is a unique example and that "customization" with standard off the shelf parts is a one of a kind in better than showroom condition. That statement can also be applied to many cars and RVs. Sellers have an emotional attachment that the rest of the world doesn't. Asking and actual selling are 2 different things. If you have an honest relationship with a dealer, ask them what actual selling prices tend to be. You might be shocked. As stated private party values and sales will be less because dealer have a captive audience, experience at selling, and access to financing that the average seller doesn't. Generally speaking they also know how to stage a bike for sale.

If you are researching values in order to sell it, check out cycle trader nationally paying attention to whether it's a dealer or private and also mileage. Options will often realistically add very little value. Chances are that what you did to your bike won't appeal to someone else and may in fact cause extra expense to undo something. Think of a bike with 450 skulls emblazing everything, tacky beyond belief. If I'm looking at used bikes, the more stock and unmolested the better. When selling I return the bike to as stock as possible because #1 you won't get anything from a dealer for them, #2 I can sell on eBay or such for some extra $$.

I listed the Blackbook Power Sports pricing because they include a finance advance number. Most people need to finance a Harley purchase.... if the banks won't loan them the money for a particular bike, nothing else really matters...

Financial institutions use various price guides to determine what they will loan on a certain Make/Model/Year vehicle. Check with your bank/credit union to see how much they would loan a potential buyer in your area on your bike... bingo! That's what the bike's "real world" value is...
