Hmmm...I just put my helmet on the bars or strap it to my seat rail. I do carry a masterlock in case I'm inclined to lock it up (I can master lock to my seat rail) but so far no one has messed with my bags or my helmet.

Oh I wear a basic black 3/4 helmet at the moment so that might make it undesireable. If I wore a $400/$500 Shoei I might be more concerned.

I bought a HD helmet lock, the one described above. When you go to put it on; they use one way screws, So you can't unscrew it, after it's fixed.

This you may wanna rethink, as I want to buy downtube covers and now have to remove the lock and place it somewhere else; .......which is gonna be fun.

I hang it on the brake pedal when I park. Not as noticable as up on the bars and less likely to be stolen.

I wear a 1/2 helmet and toss it in the bags. If I'm traveling I'm usually not off the bike for long (gas, food, etc) and will hang it on the hwy peg

I bought the H-D lock and it does come with "one way" mounting bolts.
I just switched them out for normal bolts. So I can take it off later.
I really don't think anybody is gonna steal your helmet lock.

I also use a Gun Cable Lock similar to this:

You can get them anywhere they sell guns.
I bought a cheapy at Walmart.

Me too, its a shame I didn't think of it or read this BEFORE I put the HD one on the front down tube.
Oh well, I can console myself with the knowledge that at least it won't get misplaced or lost when I'm 100 or more miles away from home and need it.

I also seen a few people that use locks meant for skis or snowboards: http://www.snowshack.com/krypskiandsn.html

I think the gun lock might be a better choice as many of us already have them laying around and their smaller and easier to stuff in a sissy bar bag or tool bag.
Besides its just to keep the casual thief at bay, any truely determined thief who wants yourhelmet isn't going to be stopped by muchshort of a 9mm.
