Default Fatboy Transmission rattle

Anyone having a problem with transmission rattling on a 07 fatboy.
Minestarted rattling in 5th gear at 2700 miles when accelerating from 45 mph.it is starting to rattle in 6th at 3800 miles when accelerating from 55mph.
It must be hot (ridden 25 to 30 miles before it starts rattling).
I had it at the dealer and some of the tranny bearings were replaced but it made no difference.
Ive heard of this on the touring models but not on the Softail models.

You are not riding your engine hard enough.. I've noticed that 5th gear is good when going faster than 65 mph. Also check the nut that holds your air filter, it may be loose. Just my 2c.

My fxstc does the clatter thing in fifth and when really hot sometimes in forth. 55 and below is worst in fifth. Since I put the Windvest on it has been easier to hear. It's the same powertrain so it has to rattle and clatter. For what it's worth my dealers service managers Bob has always clattered also in fifth. She said the factory says it's normal. I said it's normal for a f$%ked up design. The sales guy said that out of 320 bikes he sold only two mentioned the clatter. What else would the lying bastard say?

Ha...the salesman said I was the only one who had complained about it. The service guy said everyone with an 07 that came in for anything complained about it. I switched to synthetic at 1000m and it helps when it's cold.

I have 6300 miles on my Heritage and have never heard the 'rattling" or "clatter".

There are lots of threads on '07 tranny noiseproblems. Some people have them, some don't. I have an '07 FatBoy and don't hear any tranny noises (I guess I am one of the lucky ones).

The current issue of American Iron magazine has the best writeup on this subject I have seen. It also describes a fix put out by Baker Transmissions. You might want to check it out.

I just found out they have come up with a fix for the touring models. Check the link below.

I wonder if there is anything in the works for Softails.
