Tallest apes with stock cables, etc? Will 1" bars work?
New to the harley world. Always had metric bikes and i know most of all of those take a 1" bar and you can run up to 12" apes on factory cables and lines with just some minor re-routing. My bike is an 07 Heritage Softail which has i believe to be 10" mini apes on it now but i would like to go a little taller, preferably 14". I have a brand new set of 12" tall 1" diameter apes sitting in my shop. So my question is, before i go off and buy 1 1/4" 14" tall apes, and cable kit, will my 12" bars fit without buying cables. Like i said id rather have 14's but would sacrifice the 2" to save my money. Was looking at a Burly cable kit that was $199 and the bars were only $125. If i cant use my 12" bars is the burly kit a decent product. Appreciate any help. Thanks

I just installed Biltwell 12" apes and slimline risers on my 1997 softail custom. No issues with cable length but I have a black +2" front brake hose on the way for a cleaner install. The height difference from stock pullback risers and buckhorn bars is maybe 2". Looks and, more importantly, feels much better now.

When I changed out my 10" buckhorns to 10" tradisional apes the cables wouldn't reach.
So I had to remove the stock 4" risers and put in 2".
I missed the height so I put in longer cables and reinstalled the 4" risers.
It looked stupid.
So I decided to put in taller bars. bought 12", wasn't happy with the mock-up. (sitting on the shelf never installed)
And went with 14" 1.5" bars, 2" risers, longer cables and wire extensions.
