Default Softail Springer to springer classic

Hello all,

Question for all your springer fans. I have an 05 springer softail and I am trying to upgrade the front wheel and fender to the springer classic. Love the springer, but not a fan of my skinny little chopper tire and want to change it over to classic. I also live on a steep gravel driveway and this little front tire is not digging it at all.

So what would be required to swap parts and make it a springer classic? Wheel, fender and fender links? I tried to go the harley dealership and the parts guys had no clue. One of them said "dude, I haven't even seen a springer in over a year". yeeesh! lol I suppose I could pull fish for the springer and the springer classic and compare part numbers, but the guys at the dealership know nothing about the bikes they are selling parts for. They have tats and look kinda badass....I guess that was good enough to get them the gig.

And yes...I have conducted a search and I'm not finding any mention of upgrading a springer to a springer.

As well as the parts you mentioned. I believe the front end is different as well. The springer classic has the front brake on the opposite side. Thats why one is a FX (narrow) springer and one is a FL (wide) springer.

Crap...so this is gonna cost a pretty penny. I need a new tire for the front and was thinking this would be a time to get a more practical front wheel while I'm pulling the wheel anyway. Not trying to spend a grand on it, but looks like I might have to. Thanks, though.

What about going with a 21x3.0 or 21x3.5 rim? That would be around a 130 size tire.

I believe that your FX springer is actually 2" higher than the FL Springer
