Default 2007 Softtail Custom with 26,000 miles question

I'm looking for a Harley and I've found some I'm interested in , one is a 2002 Dyna wide glide with 7,000 miles , a 2004 Softtail Standard with 11,000 miles and a 2007 Softail custom with 26,000 miles on it . All 3 look great , and I'd be proud to own any one of them , the 2007 even with the more miles is probably worth more ... should I be worried about a bike with 26,000 miles on it ? Just curious what others would think and do .

Default Softail Custom

I own a 2007 softail Custom with 25000 on the clock. It is the Best Harley that I have owned. It runs great and averages 45 miles per gallon. You will love the ride. Big difference between a Dyna and Softail. The only thing I can suggest is to keep the idle air control valve clean and do not overkill ? the oil Tank. Enjoy and good luck on your choice

My 2008 Softail Custom also has 26k miles, and it runs great. I wouldn’t be afraid to buy one with that amount of mileage. Look it over, check the fluids, and maybe have an Indy check it out.

Thanks for your responses , I'm gonna go look at the 2007 Softail Custom ... it looks brand new in Pics . Shorty Boy , are you saying the Soft tail is a much better ride than the Dyna when you're saying a big difference between them ?

Sorry. Yes there is a big difference in the ride. Post some photos if you get it.

You guys who have a Softail Custom , do your wives find that Backrest Suitable ? First thing my wife said when I showed her pics was how the backrest was a lot shorter than the other ones I was looking at . I don't think it would look right to add a Pillow Backrest above that Stock seat so I may have to buy a new seat right off the bat .

I have an 08 Softail Custom. I bought it with 10k on it and it now has over 50k. At 40k I had the engine rebuilt, trans as well and did the big bore kit and cams taking it from 96 to 103 with 255 cams and other bits and bobs.

For the record the bike's engine did not need a rebuild. It was running perfect. I just did it because I could. So now I have about 5k on the rebuild.

chiming in with the rest....the 07 with 26,000 on the odometer sounds like a winner. As long as you make the wife happy with her seat choice.

The stock Softail Custom King/Queen seat is one of the most comfortable stock seats HD has. The passenger seat with the stock sissy bar has great support for the passenger.
