What weight fork oil are you guys with progressive front fork drop in lowering kits using? My forks are apart for powercoating, reassembling and wondering what oil would be best. I ran stock oil this past season
We have garbage roads here and I did a LOT of bottoming out..thought maybe a heavier fork oil would help that? Bike handles fine though, so i dont want to stiffen them up too much
My progressive mono-tubes called for 10W oil. 5oz. In each tube.
That's a starting point and just a suggestion. Different factors require different ways to do things. That's why there are different options available.
The oil in Progessive Monotubes is strictly for lubrication and has no effect on dampening.
That's why there's so little of it - only a few ounces as opposed to filling the tubes.
I spoke with my indy today regarding the drop ins from Progressive, I was going to front drops and rear shocks, he said its definitely going to stiffen the front end, you won't experience the nose dive in a heavy braking situation, but you will notice a stiffer front end. For me, I opted out, I like my smooth ride, JMO.

So if that's the case, then standard fork oil should do it? The instructions it came with mentioned to only follow the harley standard procedure for fork oil service/amount.

Do you mind elaborating a bit? Not to sound ignorant or stupid, but what would factor as changing to different fork oil weight besides size/weight of the rider?
