Yes, the drop in Monotubes only take a small amount (5oz) of 10wt oil for lubrication. The cartridges are sealed. I just used some cheap 10wt motor oil. Saw no reason to buy "expensive" fork oil. No issues.

I guess I'll just run the stock oil to stock specs then again and see how it all goes

If your main concern is avoiding bottoming out?, just change to a heavier fork oil.
