Another vote for Andrews N21. It changed the tone of the exhaust, also.

I spoke with with my Indy again, for the price of the kit he said I can't go wrong with the 509's. I have been looking at doing the whole upgrade kit from Feuling, Cam plate, oil pump, hydro system. new chain, lifters. Anyone have any input on Feuling gear?

My take from researching these two cams was that both run about the same in a stock 88, but the 21 is preferred if you go big bore or change compression ratio, as its intake closing is later than the 509 (30 deg vs. 18).

Used Feuling lifters when I installed the 509 in the Super Glide. They pumped up right away and are quiet, with stock pushrods.

509 makes the bike more fun for street riding, you’re on the cam off idle to 4500 or so.

Roadmutt, Thanks for the input, I do mostly country side and coastline 2up, and the GF and I are planning a couple road trips, doing the cam for the extra push when pulling out to pass the big rigs, I have no plans on doing anything other then this.
Thanks again.

I have an Andrew’s 21 in my ‘06; love it. Really great 2 up back roads cruising cam. Pulls from idle and doesn’t loose much on the top end. I run it with a V&H FuelPak, perfect. You might loose a bit of low end with the straight shots, a collector style will give you better bottom end.

We did talk about the 21, the S&S 509 comes on a from idle to 4500, while the 21 goes from 1700 to 4800. both are very close. The reason I do keep pushing the 509s is because I'm getting a great deal on them and have read positive reviews, I also liked the Feuling 525 that comes on around the same as the 21 and runs to 5500. I'm taking it all in stride and reading as much as I can, I'm not an expert and only go by the manufacturers specs. I'm also considering this kit from feuling and adding lifters.

I'm about to put the 509c's in my 2005 Ultra Classic, also bought the V&H FuelPak. What settings did you end up going with on your fuelpak?

Have you already bought the FuelPak?

Yes unfortunately. Should have done more research first. I checked out their online config and saw you could choose cams so I figured I could call them and get good settings. When I called yesterday they gave me a baseline to start with but said it's going to be extremely limited.

I haven't installed cams yet and I cant return the fuelpak since its electronics. So I went ahead and installed it last night and the bike noticeably better with my stage 1 upgrades. Just not sure it will handle a cam and the last thing I want is a bike that runs like crap.
