Default MPH and RPMs...what is safe for engine?

Just wondering: Since my bike (05 NT) doesn't have a tach, what would the top speed be in high gear be before I would need to start worrying about over revving the engine?

Drive train is stock and the engine has the Stage 1 mods with V&H Stepped Drag pipes.

Thanks

Your bike has a rev limiter. You can't over rev it.

Ditto, is hasa rev limiter, you have to worry about lugging the engine more in these bikes

All HD has a rev limiter which don't let motor runs at more than 5.200 rpm or so, so you don't have to worry about it unless you change your ignition module and set another one with upper or no limits.

Regards

Thanks all! Thats good to know. Highest I hit yesterday was 80MPH, and it felt good, just seemed like the reciprocating mass was moving pretty fast. But now that I know there is a built in "sanity check", as far as the engine goes, I'll relax and just ride.

Thanks

If you were in high gear at 80, you still had a longgg way to go before hitting the rev limiter.

Yep, you can run 80 (or better) all day long. Just ask me, I just got done doing it for the better part of 2K miles!

Sounds good

Might need to get a windshield for the winter though. Lots of winds hitting you at 70-80MPH, which would make for a pretty good wind chill factor.[]

I've been near 120 mph (testing purposes only, of course ) and still accelerating on my '05 NT. Don't worry 'bout it!

Cheers!

I had my bike up to 110 when it was still stock. It didn't seem to hit the rev limiter, just ran out of juice I guess. I hit 100 on a fairly regular basis but usually don't sustain speeds over 80. For what it's worth, I ridepretty hard sometimes and I've never hit the rev limiter. When I'm screaming I always shift as soon as I can feel the power begin to dip again which seems to be at about 55 in 2nd gear. That is probably shifting a split second before the limiter kicks in.Most of my dragging never gets past third gear and 80mph before it's time to slow down again.
