Default Vintage style 19" springer fork on a modern softail?

Has anyone tried swapping a Vintage style 19" springer fork on a modern softail? I want to swap a shorter vintage inline style Springer Fork into my 2007 Springer Classic with these Bike Station Shock Absorbers (https://www.wwag.com/cgi-bin/WebObje...&page=%2157297) installed and was wondering if anyone has tried something like this before? If so, were their any problems and how did it affect the ride for you?

I've read that I would have to lower the rear shocks the same amount.
