Default saddle bags

Looking for advice. I have an 2006 softtail standard FXST with the removeable luggage rack and sissy bar. I want to put some type of removeable saddle bags on but from what the dealer tells me the bags run 300 plus along with the turn signal relocaton kit and labor. Any ideas of what I can do to keep the cost down. Or know of a type of bags that will fit that I can put on and remove myself without all the hassle. Thanks

i believe there are plenty that just hang over the fender under the seat, that take about 2 minutes to install and you do not need the docking hardware and relocation kit...also tbags has the bags that rest on the luggage rack and have a pocket that slides over the sissy bar that are nice

i put bare backs on my fatboy. they are very simple, and work with almost every saddle bag and bike. i got them at www.jpcycles.com http://www.jpcycles.com/productgroup...2-03A51D1FFE9F part # 830-036
and you can get chrome covers when the saddlebags are off.

Thanks for the replys, just a couple of more questions. Does it matter about the type or size so they dont interfere with the rear wheel? The ones that hang over the luggage rack or mount under the seat sound good so I dont have to relocate the lights. Any info on where I can find some locally, I live in Gainesville Fla. Thanks again.

types and sizes "do" matter. you have to be careful if your buying soft leather saddle bags, you will need saddlebag supports, you have to be careful their not in the way of your swingarm or exhaust. there are a few things to consider. and the only way to be 100% sure if your new to saddle bag buying i would reccommend the harley davidson original saddlebags for your bike. they are vwery expensive, but nothing is going to break, scrape or burn. heres the ones on hd. http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_CA part number is 90384-06 and it will require a singal relocation kit...mine did.

Just a quick note, I went to the dealer and bought the saddle bag supports for my 2006 softtail. They do not fit and there are none currently in stock that will fit. They say this is due to the larger tire and they were not aware of this until now. They are going to try and bend the supports and put in some spacers so they will work. So instead of a simple installation it is going to cost me about 70 to 100 $ to get this done right.

thats the suckiest thing about the newest bike on the block, sometimes they change things slightly that make everything else hard to work with until they come out with a whole new set of accessories for your paticular year and model. harley kept their bikes and accessorises the same for many many years, now every year like the car market they seem to be changing everything, making older accessories obsolute.
