I had an 01 with a carb, the thing sounded great and some of the early FI years were not the most reliable.
It also started and ran like a Swiss clock. Never missed a beat.

Actually, I prefer the older Harleys over the newer models.I have excellent durability on all my HDs from a 90 Heritage, 2-06 models-2000, 2001, 2002, 2004. I have a carb 01 Springer that is the perfect representation of what I think of when the name Harley Davidson comes up. I have ridden the newer silky smooth bikes and they are way too tame and housebroken for me. Give me some noise and vibration for a Harley. For the smooth and quiet ride---- I got a Valkyrie for that.
