V&H Fuelpak Mode 23 - Correct Answer?

V&H Fuelpak Mode 23 - Correct Answer?
Have seen several posts now that talk of Mode 23 dealing with O2 sensors on 2007. Yet every Mode 23 for every bike settingin the Softail manual and on website is "16".
Have also seen where some have changed Mode 23 "from" 16 "to" 50. 16 is what the manual says to use. 16 is also what the website PDF file says to use.
Does anyone know where 50 came from? A phone call to V&H? Someone tinkering with the settings and figured it out on their own?
Some claim that changing from 16 to 50eliminates decel popping and gurgling noises. Any truth in that? You would think that if there was truth in this, it would be reflected on the V&H website by now.
My fuelpak Mode 23 is currently set to 16 and I have moderate decel popping/gurgling on my 2007 Heritage Classic with V&H True Duals and K&N kit. It does make sense that if Mode 23 deals with 2007 O2 sensors that something would be different from previous year's models. Maybe the "16 to 50" is the right answer.
I'm going to change Mode 23 on my bike from 16 to 50 - results will be posted later on today.

RE: V&H Fuelpak Mode 23 - Results are in
And the results are: Changing Mode 23 "from" 16 "to" 50 is bogus, for me at least. There is no change in how the bikereacts/sounds with an increase/decrease of throttle. Bike still pops/gurgles on decel.
If anone else has V&H True Duals and Fuelpak would like to know if they're having the same issues and whether any changes made the popping/gurgling disappear.

RE: V&H Fuelpak Mode 23 - Correct Answer?
I seem to remember a post to where someone said they called V&H tech support and was told about changing it to 50. I called them and one told me to change mine to 15 if I had popping on decel. I think that is one negative about the Fuelpack in being that no one knows what the settings really mean. I didn't have any noticable popping on decel so I left mine at the factory point of 16. I don't have a link to that post but I am thinking he was told that changing mode 23 to 50 turned off the Fuelpack on decel but I may be remembering it wrong. I see so many different posts about this so I am confused about it all. I am still gladI went with the Fuelpack.

I had read about changing Mode 23 to either 15 or 50 (from the recommended setting of 16) in a post on this board by BillG. Bill said that is what he had been told by Adam at V&H on the phone about his decel popping.
Here is a link to that thread:

All I can say is that changing Mode 23 to a setting of 50 helped the decal popping on my bike. Plus, I think it helped with elimination of a slight throttle hesitation that I had. I haven’t tried the # 15 setting on Mode 23 yet, but will sometime in the future.

Thanks, Waterdog. I did see a post in there about the same set-up as mine. Problem solved when he installed the Quiet Baffles and re-programmed the FP, which is what I was thinking about doing as well. Hopefully I'll have the same results in a week or so.

Good luck Navy, I know it is flusterating. It's funny how these Fuelpacks work. Mine does fine on factory setting of 16 but who knows what other troubles will show in the future *L*. Is your popping to the point where it is going to hurt the bike? I did notice a little more oil being blown back thru where the breather hoses were from the factory air filter. I guess that makes mine a self oiling K& N. For a little I'd go back to stock and forget it all *L*. regards and good luck in whatever you decide.

RE: V&H Fuelpak Mode 23 - Correct Answer?
Switching from 16 to 50 worked a little for me. I was always getting hesitation when starting out as well. Adam at tech support told me to change modes 1&2 from 0 to 3. The hesitation has gone away but now I get popping ...hmmmmm. This fuel pak is just not fine tuned yet.
