I rode my '18 Heritage 3 times before buying. I now love it. Try a couple of more test rides, believer me when I say the suspension is gobs better than anything Harley ever produced. I can see them going to one frame and eliminating the touring frame. It IS that good!

Have a 2015 Heritage and love it. Traded in a 2014 Ultra Limited with 700 miles on it because after riding it I felt like I just came home from work. I added a FP3 fuel pak, a Mustang seat with a backrest and a wider passenger seat also. Love this bike and really enjoy riding it!

I worked my way up to an Ultra, owned it for about 1 year.
Only time I liked that bike was on the open road (in town it was a tank).
Traded it in on 17 Deluxe (with cruise) and love it.
If you want.... you may be able to find a new 17 Heritage.
But you could pick up one with supper low miles for (most likely) less money (depending on how much time you take to buy).

Before the 01 was an EVO hard tail.
01 FLHT

09 Ultra

17 Deluxe

I am short and not stocky, I will stick with my softail.
Maybe when I retire I can make the case for a touring bike just for long trips.....
But the longer I have the softail (set up this way) the less I consider that option.
BUT my wife (who does/will not ride on two wheels any more) mentioned being willing to ride on a trike.....
So if she persists there may be a trike in my future (time will tell).

Spot on, OP! I started feeling my 14 Street Glide was just too top heavy for me at 5'6". And I didn't like not seeing the road in front of me. Then the 18's came out and I was so disappointed in the looks of the new Heritage. But I also didn't want to give up ABS and cruise. I looked quite a while and found a '16 Heritage with 14K LESS miles and worked out an even swap. I've never looked back and it was the best bike decision I've ever made. Would I like the M8 and the new suspension? Absolutely. But I can't get by the loss of the chrome look. And I'd rather clean chrome all day than anything blacked out, glossy or not.

No criticism of anyone who has the new Heritage! It's a fine bike and I'd probably enjoy having one. With chrome.... :-)

Default Confused

Hello Sir, I'm confused about wheel size for my 2019 Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic FLHCS 114. I have been asked by dealer who wants hub width (???), and bearing size (25mm).I was thinking about (F)16x3.5 - (R) 16x5.5 , (F) 16x3.5 - (R) 16x3.5, or (F) 18x3.5 - (R) 18x5.5.5- (F) 18x3.5 - (R)18x3.5. Today I was told by HD Parts I should go with (F) 16x5.5 - (R) 16x5.5, , or (F) 18x5.5 - (R) 18x5.5 . I need help. Thank you.

Default 2005 Heritage Softail

Bought it at the end of last year, 2005 with 21,000 miles and not a scratch on it. Just enough time to get a couple thousand miles on before it got too cold. Looked at several other models before deciding, but as soon as the previous owner pulled it out of the garage I new I was going to buy it. It is very comfortable and easy to handle, only thing missing is a Tach ( which I added) and a gear indicator. It was also in my price range.

I appreciate your post and that is a very nice Heritage. I have a 2007 Heritage that I rode form NC to the left coast and back last year. I stayed off the interstates 90% of the time and the Heritage was a wonderful ride. However, at 65+ on the Interstates, there was decent vibration and big trucks would cause uncomfortable turbulence. I've seriously considered a Road King, however, I think your comments and others regarding bigger bikes will cause me to stick with my Heritage. It is so darn easy to maneuver and ride.

Sorry for rambling, now my question - After 5 or so hours in the saddle, my back gets a little sore (I am an old guy). Does your back support provide significant benefit? I would appreciate your opinion before I spend the money.

Best,
Terrell

My back rest makes allot of difference as far as back comfort.
The cheeper ones do not adjust forward & backwards, can be nice but I get buy with the one I have.
My Ultra had the HD fully adjustable model and it was great.
The Deluxe has a stationary (cheep one) and we get buy fine although there are times the adjustment would be nice.
