For you folks that have the HD Tri-Bar LED Tail Light 69817-07 installed on your 2007 Customs, do you happen to also have the Bobtail Fender Rack part 53979-07 by chance???

According to the info about this tail light, it fits the FXSTC alright, but needs a special installation kit to fit with the Bobtail Fender Rack P/N 60161-06. Nothing mentions the new Bobtail Fender Rack part 53979-07 for the 2007 FXSTC. My dealer can't confirm if I need the special install kit or not, or even if the combo of my rack 53979-07 and the Tti-Bar light will work.

Info on the light states:
Fits '06-later FXST, FXSTB, FXSTC and FXSTS models. Original Equipment on '07 FXSTSSE models. Will fit with Bobtail Fender Rack P/N 60161-06 when used with Installation Kit P/N 59320-07.

No mention of rack 53979-07???

What do yall think? Anyone have this combo on the FXSTC by chance?

I have the rack PN=53979-07 and the Tri-Bar light and you DO need an adaptor PN=59320-07 to make them fit together.
The up side is that its made of steel and not plastic like the original tailight assembly so it 'should' be able to handle a bit more than the rated 10lbs of the original light assembly.


Hmmm, not sure why the pic doesn't show up right now, but try looking later as it may just be a bandwidth problem that will hopefully clear up later.

Sad when one of the biggest dealers in our area could not tell me this... I'll order (online not from my local dealer) me up a light and install kit and get on with it

 

I would get a price from Zenotti's and Chicago HD before I went with your local dealer. I saved at least $25 or more getting mine from Zenotti's.

I ordered it from Chicago this afternoon, saved about $40.00 over my local dealer. Looks like they have it back ordered however, so it maybe a couple of weeks before I get it.

thx for posting the part#'s. Im sick of strapping my lunch box to the front of my sissy bar. Ive got to get that luggage rack!

 

There is a 'newer' version of the rack out now. Its identical in in fit and overall shape, however its made from square metal stock that been twisted and chromed. There is also a matching twisted metal sissy bar to replace thestock version.
The part number for it is 56452-07 and you can see a pic of it here

I'm just annoyed that I got mine before they started making the new twisted version. I would have liked to get that one and the matching sissy bar instaed.

 

Yep, I like the twisted ones myself.. Maybe I'll swap out for them when I get through with a few more things.
