Default Back to stock exhaust on 07 Fat Boy

Can anyone tell me if I will need to re-map if I go back to stock exhaust?

I have an 07 Fat Boy. SE AC, SERT, and Vance and Hines Big Shots Staggered with quiet baffles.

Bike runs great. Problem is it is a bit loud leaving for work @ 4:30 AM.

Trying to be considerate to the neighborhood. Also will be selling the Vance and Hines

if anyone is interested.

[sm=roll.gif]4.30 am start, I'm sure your neighbours will all pay for the re tune and a new set of pipes [sm=roll.gif]

Maybe you could just push you bike down the street and wake up some other people [8D]

I have several loud bikes in my neighborhood, which people seem to be use to. I hear some driving by around 5:00 am when I wake up. It's seems like a shame to compromise your bikes performance for something your neighbors prolly don't even hear. Maybe try speaking with them first??

I think its a bit drastic going back to stock.

I tend to roll mine down the street when i go for a cruise at night as its down hill but later on in the night i have to ride it all the way to the drive because its uphill.I cut the engine as soon as i can and dont leave it idling unnecessarily.

I am very aware of not jacking off the neighbours but you can only do so much.Hopefully they dont have a newborn in the house but maybe mention something next time you are chatting to them.Dont make a special point of it,just throw it in the conversation and see what the reaction is.Hopefully they will be cool.I have a guy 2 doors away that has a kwaka zx10 with stock pipes and i hear him leaving early every morning.Doesnt bother me because he doesnt idle it for long at all. They will still hear your bike with stock pipes, but obviously at afew less decibels.

Good luck with it.

Hey jkelley....

It sure does pose a problem with the nieghbors when you leave that early....lol

But there are quite a few options that you can go. With the crackdown on loud pipes in many States these days, companies like S&S, Vance and Hines and others have geared up with quieter systems designed with guys like you ( and me) in mind. Check out the new S&S oval slip ons. They work with your stock pipes and give you performance and sound or lack thereof you may be looking for.

As far as the HD stage one download, It raises your rev limiter(no need to change that) and dumps a bit more fuel in the mix. That is something that is desperately needed on '07 machines. So you would not have to, nor should you revert back ot the stock fuel curve download....

Just push the bike down the street. keep it loud !!!!! LOL.

In all seriousness, I am in the same boat, I have lots of morning overtime, so I am on the road at 4:30 AM also. I have been taking my 'Zook instead of the Fatboy simply because I don't want to listen to my bike that early...

I have the same pipes and baffles on my FLSTCI and I have to leave sometimes early. I don't think the bike is that loud if the neighbors windows are not open. I am basing that on hearing my bike inside my house - not that loud. And I don't idle for long. I just climb aboard and idle up the street. Keep the pipes if you can.

I got 3 HD's in my neighborhood and one guy leaves to work every morning at the crack o dawn on his Fatboy I never hear him anymore now that I got my deluxe. Hardly ever hear him returning either cuz i'm out on the deluxe -ha ha. So keep your pipes and lobby the hood to all get HD's - then they will be more understanding.

My respect to you jkelley, you are a very considerate man. I also have an 07 Fat Boy stock and everybody tells me is louder than a stock older model. Fortunately I parkit in an enclosed semi full single-car garage, so when I crank it up the initial sound is not that bad. Amazingly, my 3 year old, who BTW loves the bike, does NOT get awaken by the engine noise. His bedroom is next to our garage.

Rolling the bike to the street to crank it up is a good solution, try that first and see what happens.

On the other hand I'm going to start wearing ear plugs, engine noise is horrible while riding with a windshield.
