Default Moving backrest rearward

Good morning all,
I have a 2016 FXSB that I typically ride solo, but occasionally my wife wants to go.
I purchased a LePera 2 up seat to give her some additional room and I have the detachable side plates and upright with backrest for when she comes with me.

This weekend we went on a 150 mile trip. After 1 hour she complained of her hips hurting (she is small - only a size 4). She also complained that she feels like she is sitting almost on top of me when we're riding. The detachable sideplates mount to the typical docking hardware and where the upright comes across the rear seat there is almost 3 inches of additional seat that she doesn't get to use.

I'm wondering if anyone has attempted to modify their detachable sideplates to have the upright mount further backwards, thereby giving my wife an additional 3" of seat and not making her so uncomfortable on a moderately short trip of 150 miles.

Please let me know your thoughts on this.

Thanks,

Al
