Default 1987 heritage softail shocks

I am looking for shocks that will fit my bike seems that no one makes a direct replacement that I've found. I'd appreciate any input on what you have used. The year models with my setup are 84-89.

Progressive makes shocks for your bike. The 422's are popular.

I am running Works Performace shocks which are great but the company went out of business.

The 422 doesn't fit the body is too large.

I tracked down a phone number for works performance. They are open again and will be producing softail shocks in 6 months. He also said if I had a used set he could rebuild them now.

I had a set of Works shocks installed on my Heritage. One of them broke while the mechanic was out on the test ride. Shop ordered another set. Works said they would come in two days but they took over a week and a half. Shop installed them on the bike and they were bottoming out on the heaviest setting. Screw those things, waste of money.

Any full size shocks that say they fit 84-99 are lying ...the shocks changed in 89...and the 84-88 are difficult to find. The small bodied shocks will work...

but you have your choice of the Chinese crap, or works

89 up shocks installed on an 88 down will hit the trans mount bolts...the tube that covers the spring is too long.
