Soap & water or cleaner & a rag

RE: Soap & water or cleaner & a rag
I keep the bike clean all the time, Showroom clean. In fact my bike is cleaner than the day I bought it (2007 Softail Deluxe) I never let it get dirty. After a ride I blowoff the brake caliperswith a compressor. I go over it with a duster and thenI wipe it down with a microcloth, Iwipe down the rims and run a Mr Clean eraser along the whitewalls. My whitewalls have protectant on them so they stay pretty clean All this takes about 15 minutes depending on the ride.
Once a week I go over the bike and check to see if eveything is clean. If it needs a good cleaning I jack it up so I can spin the wheels and give it a good detailing. I go over all the chrome with wipes, the paint with Maquires, the rims & tires with Mr Clean auto erasers and the engine with S100 engine brite. If I need to wash it I use S100 and blow dry it off with my compressor. I try to avoid water. I've found with regular detailing and the protectants I use it keeps it fairly clean. The good news is everywhere I go people walk up and ask me how do I keep it so clean? I stay on it! oh and I enjoy it (wife thinks I'm nuts)
