That's why I went with Vance and Hines slip ons. No discoloration after 5,000 miles and excellent sound.

Did you expect the heat shields to discolor? Or just that you like the V&H better?

I’ve always had good performance from Vance and Hines pipes. Since the V& H slip on mufflers have built in heat shields rather than using the factory ones, I wondered about discoloration. After 5000 miles I’m happy to say there is none.

I've never had a set of pipes with heat shields that had discoloration of the shields, though not to say it couldn't happen. I would expect there will be none on the factory FB heat shields either.
