Here's mine andI love them. I've mentioned this in other posts. Go to your dealer and have them start up the bikes that have the pipes that you're interested in. After you hear them and see them on the bikes, you'll know which one is for you. Good Luck!

Okay, I am almost convinced about the V&H Big Shot longs. They are simple enough they won't change the look of my bike too drastically. I still have not heard them, but as long as they increase the volume a bit, I will be happy. I am not looking to wake my neighbors.

Any suggestions as to air intakes? Again, nothing that will change the retro look.

nostalgia look on a Deluxe = duals
as for the air cleaner, just a plain round or teardrop

I have a set of V&H with the SPP hiflow intake. Purchased them from axiom cycles http://www.axiomcycles.com. The prices were great and they answered all my questions. I can really tell the difference in performance. Next I am going to change the throttle body and injectors.

I just bought a set of the V&H Softail Duals for my 07, and they are nice. I was going to get the quiet baffles, but decided not to after hearing the great sound. The only downside is that the left side pipe comes so close to my leg that I have to be really careful. I also like riding in shorts (yeah, don't flame me) as Florida is very hot, and I've already got a small burn to remind me how close the pipe is!

I'm considering a wrap for that area to solve the heat issue.

If you're headed for V&H, their website has sound recordings of each type of pipes. I tossed up between the BSS and the BR and thought the BR had a bit more roar. The website sound and the actual sound (at lease for the BR) i think are pretty close.

Air-cleaner... Lots of recent positives for the K&N (Arlen Ness Big Sucker) but historically lots of HD SE. I ran a search here and there is a thread somewhere asking who has HD SE and who had AN BS... HD was more used if i recall correctly. Both fit under the 'football' cover.

Hate to say it - but the 2-1 road rage was the best thing i ever did for my Deluxe. Looks awesome too. Performance wise they just can't be beat. Bassani's are what I'd advise you to get. If their other pipes are anywhere near as good as the road rages you will be golden. Nostalgia will go out the window when you feel what a high quality 2-1 can do over a large power band spectrum. The sound is awesome too. No high pitched irritating pit-ta pat. Just a nice low growl.

I have V&H Straight Shots on my Night Train, and one of the reasons I chose those was because they have a similar look to the original pipes. I've always loved the staggered right-side only pipe look. Check out my sig pic to see what they look like (I added the slash down tips).

Cheers!
