Oil Filter relocation
#11
Ok thanks swiftly!
Before I read your post, I had already ordered the DKCustoms kit. Hopefully that will work for me.
I will have to install the filter bracket below the abs. I have the extra long S69 k&n filter. It will be interesting to see how it goes. Plus, I am also worried about the clamps being able to support the weight of the longer filter (more oil than stock).
I will use the blue thread locker on the screws that connect the filter bracket to the frame. But I am not sure what threadlocker to use for the hose on the brass barbs. If you can suggest, that'll be great.

I got the optional black hose end clamps and braided hose from DK, and also blacked out the brass fittings on mine. It's a quality kit, and I'm very happy with it!!

[QUOTE=09fitz;17490650]For reference, this is a DK Custom kit on my '09 Heritage. It doesn't have ABS though.

How hard was it to get the outside barb, on the OEM filter location piece, to be clocked in the forward (9 o'clock) position.....?
That seems to be the only way that the lines won't cross/touch..... There was another pic where it was clocked to the rear (3 o'clock) and the lines crossed, I would be too **** to let it stay that way....

I have the DK Custom kit installed on my Breakout, below the ABS, and it would work fine even with a longer filter. I think you'll have no problem with the install, and the longer filter on your Deluxe...The hoses attach to the fitting with clamps, no threadlocker needed.
