There was a thread a few months back that talked about this very problem with Harley dealerships not treating their customers problems with respect. Give your local BBB a call. You're probably going to hear a lot about this one for sure. You have an extended warranty and are still getting the run around? That sucks man.

Curlingace: Not sure, but I think it's manditory for them to do all recalls. You can go to any dealer if you got the letter. I can't understand WTF is wrong with these people. They get paid for the work and it's not like they do it for nothing.

Well it looks like I will make this oil leak the dealers problem! I'm going to buy a new FATBOY 2008. I've been in today to see them,
& they offered me a deal on a new I could not refuse. That's one way to get out of it.

I have an 07 Heritage that I bought last June, it is leaking in exactly the same spot. I haven't had it to the dealer yet, it is not leaking enough to ever be a problem...just a wet oily spot. I plan on taking it in for this problemafter next years riding season is over. I'll still have plenty of warrenty time left and if it takes awhile to fix it will not matter that much. If I don't clean it up it probably leaks a teaspoon of oil in 500 miles. I hate the thoughts of having it torn apart for this but I do want it fixed before it goes out of warrenty.

I too hate the thought of taking the whole engine a part for such a small leak.

as for the outstanding recall, the dealers claims they have to be ordered by vin#, once one shop has ordered it it can't be reordered, mine has been in for 6-8 months, I have tried to make an appointment 3 times and they are always going to call me when they can get it in, still waiting for call
