Prices are pretty steep for what your getting but there's some good info. I'm trying to piece together a "kit" as we speak, I'll let everone know how it turns out.

Have the RC Components 240 kit on my '04 Standard. I had to lower the back for the best look - used the Harley lowering shocks (air would be better). The widest I'd go keeping left side drive would be 240. Almost all the 250 and higher I've been around have RSD. With the 240 your moving the primary out 1". Some have noticed some left-sidedness (is that a word?). I have not. No different than a six-pack in a saddle bag - don't even notice it and certainly doesn't make you fall down.

Expect to put out some serious bucks. Swingarm kit, fender, wiring, tire, belt, wheel (you'll then need sprockets and brake disks), lowering (shocks, bolts or air), paint, license frame, and lots of hours. Had my local Harley shop do all the work - close to $10K.

hey Pony, you mean that on the DM 200 kit using stock HD swingarm/belt/pulley, the rear tire will not be directly in line with the front tire? That would result in a helluva goofy ride dontcha think? Wouldn't the rear wheel hub have some sort of offset to compensate the wide tire?

Ok here we go . I have an 1987 fxstc . Buying a new 8.5 in rear fender ( strutless ) side mount tail light etc . My friend has a ground pounder with a 21 " front billet wheel and a 18x5 ( i believe ) rear wheel with a 180 metzler tire . Can I shove it in their with maybe just a thinner belt and pulley ?

Here's a pic of the SE 180 I put on my bike in Dec '04. I'm now on SE 180 #2 this Spring.

This is just driving me crazy.I looked at several kits from several reputable manufacturers and decided I could probably find the same components cheaper seperately.I really liked the Heartland kit but could'nt justify $700.00+ for the fender struts alone.Another $300.00 for the fender seemed a bit much for me.I bought a 9" strutless rear fender from Zoom Cycle for $285.00 and was done with it.I spent $120.00 for a billet diamond shaped led tailight/liscense plate bracket from Jireh. It looks just like the one in the Performance Machine Phatail kit ad on the Fatboy.A whopping $12.00 on bullet shaped turn signals from Jireh(I bought an IDENTICAL pair for the front at twice the price fromJ&P).I splurged on a 18x5.5 RC components solid chrome wheel from Hogpro at $935.00 shipped to my door.A spoke wheel would have drove my total cost way down.$140.00 on a Metzeler 180, however I'll be changing that to an Avon, the Metzeler is a little wider than the Avon.I kept and used the STOCK pulley, rotor, belt, caliper, spacers and splashguard.$500 for a beautiful black
paintjob, but that was 2 new fenders and the tank, including the removal of the wonderful HD sticker under the clear.

so,
285
120
12
935
500
keep in mind no matter who you go with, you'll be spending money on things that are'nt included like paint, and if you don't go with the bling back wheel, you can save a lot of dough.I'm not slamming the kits, I just couldn't find one that had all the parts I wanted especially with the wheel I wanted.I think all of them came with a spoke wheel and that's not what I wanted.I advise anyone who has a decent set of hand tools and a little mechanical ability to do it.I'm no mechanic and I did it in no time.
