Dumb question but my 40th B-Day is coming up in a couple weeks and I am going to be making some long runs for the next couple weeks to celebrate. I wasn't planning on getting a back rest but I am taking a woman on a couple of my rides and think I need to get a back rest. Might be a dumb question but are they easy to install?

That simple? Just bolt it right on? I like yours that you have shortfatboy. Luggage rack too? What model do you have? Price?

 

2001, I think the rack was $100 or a little less...
bolt the sideplates on, leave them a little loose, the upright is separate also... I dont remember the prices right off hand, it's all Harley though...I'm guessing $200 for all of it...

You just need to remove the rear reflectors.

 

I have the detacheable backrest and rack.......easy on easy off. that's the way to go if you prefer to go solo.

 

Mine is detachable also... I rarely ever keep it on unless the wife is with me. It was fairly easy to install except the turn signal relocation kit which took most of the time ( cutting and splicing wires, working in between the tire and fender, etc.). My setup was about 450-500 all H-D.

 

Funny stuff, just to put a backrest on you have to relocate turn signal, splice and wire? What a pain.
