Default 2018 FatBoy - I found a good seat if interested..

As we all know the stock seat blows on this bike. I bought a Saddlemen Explorer from DK. The seating position is back about 3 inches from stock and up about 1.5 inches. The 'back wall' of the riders location is VERY supportive and I have no need for a back rest (I didnt want one anyway but the need is eliminated for those that do). Unlike the HD upgraded seat (TallBoy) this covers the back of the tank appropriately.

To my eye, the only thing I dont like is the passenger area is a touch too wide.

I know its been a pita to find a good seat so far. The folks at Saddlemen were a big help in picking this..

how comfortable is it? I can't stand the tailbone pain any longer.

I looked at their website, I wonder if the Explorer RS would be good for me. Any problems fitting the seat, some of their seats don't fit exactly and you need to drill more holes for added hardware.

Hi Lauren - Lets put it this way.. The stock seat was killing my back and butt in 20 miles. I did 150 miles yesterday and the new seat was great. No pain or discomfort at all... The seat mounted PERFECT and fits perfect.. No mods needed. It installed in under 2 minutes

I wonder if the stock sissy bar will fit, I'll call them on Weds when I'm off work, Ultimate won't be ready with seats till June or later and I have a big trip early June and know I'll be crying after an hour.

I'm with Uncle Kebo... that stock seat is terrible. I make it about 30 miles before I have to get off.

Looked quite a bit at the Hammock with backreset ( around $700 ). I need some kind of back support, if nothing else but to keep me in the seat and not pull my hands out of my wrist sockets when I hit the gas.

But, at $413, this looked like what I needed. Yes, the passenger seat is rather large, but it may be different in person and if you have a passenger, they would appreciate it.

DK, now has 0 in stock. The one they have is being shipped here!

If I hate it, I can ship it back, so no risk.

Thanks UK for the recommendation. I didn't realize that DK finally had one in stock.

Tom
