So I got a luggage rack in a package deal on some parts. It is the narrow rack that curves and follows the contour of the rear fender and IS NOT QUICK RELEASE. It is mounted some how to the license plate holder or rear light assembly. I cannot figure out how it is suppose to mount to my 01 Softail Springer. I was told that is what it came off of and I cannot find any instructions or even videos on Youtube. Do any of you guys have this rack and can you show me how it is suppose to mount?

 

Here is a picture. It bolts to the seat bolt at the front of the bracket.

 

The one you have seems to have a different bottom bracket. Mine has a flat bar from one side to the other without the ears hanging off it vertically as does yours. But it mounts on top of the license bracket, under the taillight.
This is the best view I could get.

 

I am wondering, am I missing something like L Brackets that attach to the license plate holder?

 

If it’s like this it mounts to the two front bag mounts and the rear seat hold down nut.

 

It looks like I have been misled. I checked HDs accessory catalog and this rack is not listed as available in the 2001 model year.

 

 

I agree 100%, but my Softail Springer has the rear duck tail fender, too. It really looks like it should fit---but it doesn't.

Since it doesn't fit mine, I thought about selling it cheap, but I don't know how to advertise it. I am going to be changing my rear taillight set up soon, so I may be able to modify some things. I do have the quick release rack that I am using now, but I like the way this one looks, So I am not left in the cold with nothing.
