Trouble displaying alarm pin code

Trouble displaying alarm pin code
Hi guys, I just bought my first Harley, a 2004 Fat Boy. I also just joined this forum. After reading about the factory security system I realize I need to know my PIN number in case the fob is damaged or lost. I've followed the directions to display the existing PIN number (on,off,on,off,on, left button 3 times, right button once) and the PIN does not appear. I've tried this about 10 times. I'd appreciate any help with this.

Been looking for a similar solution for a buddy of mine who is in the same situation and found info covering a number of different bikes and year. This procedure below may help you. Note the left button press is twice not three time. Goodluck:
To reset the code with a HFSM equipped bike (no button fob), you will:
1) Have your key fob near the bike
2) Set your kill switch to off
3) Quickly turn the ignition switch on, off, on, off, on
4) Immediately press and let go of the left turn signal switch twice (press, let go, press, let go)
5) Press and let go the right signal once
6) Current PIN number will be displayed on odometer
7) Change the PIN by pressing the left signal until the desired number is reached
8) Press the right signal to cycle to the next number and repeat step 7
9) Turn ignition off when 5 digit PIN is satisfactory
NOTE: Steps 3 through 5 must be completed in quick succession of each other.
Now you can have the bike armed, and disarm with the PIN (example PIN will be 25522 in the following steps):
1) Ignition switch to on
2) Immediately press both turn signals at the same time (red key light on you speedometer will flash rapidly if done right)
3) Press and let go the left signal 2 times
4) Press and let go the right signal once
5) Press and let go the left signal 5 times
6) Press and let go the right signal once
7) Repeat for each of the last three numbers of the PIN (left 5 times, right once, left 2 times, right once, left 2 times, right once)
8) Red key on speedo will stop blinking if done right (security has been disarmed)
NOTE: Steps 2 through 7 must be completed in quick succession of each other.

A New Wrinkle
I'm having the same issue.
Yesterday, I tried to start my bike, having stored it, as usual, in the garage, since late October. It's been on a battery tender all winter. That's what I've done for the past few years, with startup being simple and immediate each time. Not so this year. When I tried to start the bike, I got no response at all. My battery is fully charged, I've replaced the battery in my fob, and have tried the suggested PIN reset sequence a number of times, but still no joy.
I get as far as Step 5, but Step 6 ("Current PIN number will be displayed on odometer") simply doesn't happen. Instead, I get a single digit displayed. I can then enter five digits of my choice, but, at the end of that sequence, I get the light flashing bit, and the procedure shuts down.
What's up? Is there something wrong with the onboard computer? Am I missing something?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated. After all, Spring is on its way!
Thanks!
Alan

I'm an idiot.
Please ignore my reply above. I hadn't put new batteries in the fobs after all, just bought the batteries, then put them near the fobs. (One of perils of being old, folks. You forget things.)
Update; Put new batteries in the fobs, took one of them out to the garage, pressed Run and Start, and the bike started. Nice and quick, nice and smooth, nice and loud. Problem solved.
Naturally, a major snowstorm is forecast for tonight and tomorrow. Serves me right for being an idiot, I guess.
