I'm putting in a rubber splash guard between the rear fender and the swingarm to stop the crud getting under the seat. Neater the better makes sense so I was wondering...
Anyone know what the maximum travel is on that rear shock (presumably at least pre-load)
I think he wants to know the movement of the shock where it attaches to the swingarm since he wants to cover that area to prevent dirt splashing under the seat.

I figure it will be max 1 inch if that much.
Probably in that neighborhood.
That's all the old style softail shocks had, only 1" of actual ram travel, and with the geometry of the swingarm it allowed 5" of height adjustment.
Cheers guys. I've not actually got the tape measure out but it looks about 2:1 suspension travel to shock travel
3.3 on a Fatboy will make the shock somewhere about 1.6 or so then. As you say, not a hell of a lot A sheet of 1/16" rubber should manage that kind of flexing
