You should check out mine from Leatherpros. I'm very happy with them, they are well made and lockable. By the way they are their 3200 series bags and easily detachable.

Nice bags... Thanks for the pics that was a great help. The Pics allowed me to see much of what I was concerned about...

Went to the site but it doesn't say what the cargo space is? Any estimates oninteriorsize?

The bags are roomy. The backs are flat with the handles to detach it covered by a flap. I got this from the website:

These saddlebags have molded ABS backs to form around the swing arm and chrome axle nut covers. They are shaped to compliment the lines of the Softail and give that classic look.
All 3 size saddlebags have a 7" X 12" lid opening and are 8" deep at the widest point. The 3000 series measures 11" tall, 21" overall length, 3200 series- 12" tall, 20" overall length, 4000 series- 13" tall, 21 1/2" overall length. For volume comparison, the 3000 series holds 30 twelve ounce beverage cans per side, the 3200 series holds 32 cans and the 4000 series holds a whopping 40 cans.

I wrote to Leatherpros before I bought mine and asked how far they hang down once mounted.I was told that the bottom of the 3200 series bag is 10" below the fender strut where it mounts and that the 4000 series is 12" down from the strut. I have not taken any more pictures but I'll take some more if the weather permits.

I hope this helps.

Mine are a little bigger, I have them drop below the axle cover. It rubs but after 7K no wear showing. Had a local leather worker make them to mathc the seat/backrest. They have a srung steel frame and locking clasps.
I had the turnsignals placed into the bags with disconnects under the seat. I ordered a Heavy Cycle taillight with turn signals so I can take the bags off. (I don't light riding without signals)
