I'm 5'7" and because of past shoulder and elbow surgeries, the bars just feel the most comfortable to me when they're laid back. This way I can ride a lot longer without pain

Why won't that sissy bar fit my bike (FXFBS)? The only ones they have for us are the detachable ones.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that maybe the rear fender is too wide to take it.

The Street Bob's rear tire is only a 150 and it looks like maybe a maximum of a 180 could fit inside the fender.

I think the holes are in different positions. We had a thread here in the last week where someone had gotten the wrong detachable sissy bar, the holes were 9" apart. On the Fat Bob they're 7" apart.

Width may be an issue, I don't know, but it could be the holes; in any case, none of the holdfast sissy bars or luggage racks that work for the fxfb will work with any of the other softails. There's something different.

Yeah, dang it. Personally, the whole hold fast thing for me is like, really? The cargo rack they have for the hold fast with the sissy bar bolts to the sissy bar. The other option is the two up rack with no sissy bar, and both rest on bobbins that bolt into the fender. Easily detachable. Yeah, by anyone while you're gettin your groove on inside the bar.

Would be nice to have something that could bolt on and looks a little better than the offerings they have too. I mean, it's a softail, right? It's a really bad *** softail. Needs a bad *** sissy bar. Some nice fat bars. A little more stretch in the forwards.

Nothing you wouldn't do to any other softail. Maybe Burly, or another custom maker. I'd gladly shell the 250 to 400 dollars out for a sissy bar that doesn't resemble the hold fast stuff, and actually does as the name implies.

True. But there's a solution for that.

So all tolled, about a 300 dollar sissy bar? Man, back in the days, Khromewerks or something like that could do a sissy bar and sideplates rigid mount for like 100 bucks. That doesn't look like a 300 dollar sissy bar to me, and it limits what, if anything else, you can mount.

Easy sauce is easy. Sideplates for the bike would be a real no brainer, and have them stepped to the size of some of the other sissy bars, and you can get more bang for the buck. I'd also have a cargo rack that mounted to the frame and the fender than one that's hanging off the sissy bar. Can it be done? Yeah, probably. Probably for less than 300 dollars too.

It's a softail. It's also a fat bob.
