Default 42mm flatside carb

Anyone using one of these? If so, how do you like it? Any plus's or minuses to it? TIA.

This one is the Mikuni HSR 42 carb. I have this in my bike (99 FXST) and I love it. The installation is simple and usually your bike will start well in most of the situations after installing it, but you will have to adjust it to work excellently well as it says in the manual.

A great difference in performance compared with the CV carb.

I recently install the HSR42 on my Evo. I really like it. Much better throttle response compared to the CV carb.
BTW, I also recommend getting rid of the stock choke cable and go with the Mikuni version. A better design that's not plastic.

Thanks guys. Did either of you use the one from the HD catalog or did you order from elsewhere?

I ordered mine from Wally's Cycle World. Think I paid $259 for it.

Thanks for your help. I ordered one from there so hopefully it comes quick. I'll let you know how it goes.

Well, don't get in to big of a rush. Wally's isn't super fast in the shipping. About a two week wait for me.

I run the Mikuni 42 on my 05 Dyna, I just instaled a 95 in. big bore kit on her.

And I noticed some odd tuning issues with it. I purchased a Head-Quarters tunning kit for it for 25$, and now this carb is totaly awsome!

Even with a bigger motor this carb is calibrated a little rich!

On a twin cam you will have to notch a couple of fins on your barrels to get proper fitment too.

If you have a little Dremel tool you will be fine.

I had them on my last 2 bikes , they provided me better mpg, quicker response and more power than the stock cv , I'd highly recommend it.
