Default 1988 Softail FXSTC 1340 EVO

The cylinder studs can I reuse them along with head nuts? I'm fixing base gasket leak. They are the OEM studs with the shoulders on top for head nuts. I'm learning so I'm wanting to do it right once. Do they stretch? If I reuse them I know i use red loctite. How far do i go, 5.75 inches from case screwing in?. There no way of torqing them. I know i saw they updated the studs with the shoulders on bottom to torque 15ft lbs. Need advice.

While your cylinders are off, have your machinist true the bottoms of the cylinders, this will go a long way toward preventing future base gasket leaks.
