anyone installed aftermarket tank on 2018 softail model?
Hi guys
I am looking into installing king sporty 48 replica tank (3.3 gal version) to my 2018 steet bob.
Has anyone done this on new 2018 softails? I need to know everything there is to know about it.
I know I want the king sportster tank as mentioned above, feeling pretty confident about fabricating the mount. but the same can't be said for the connections.
it would be ideal if there is a tank that bolts straight (connectors and all) into 2018 street bob..
any pointers and advised would be appreciated!
this is the look I'm going for.
I've photoshopped it. the image on top left corner is factory.

If you can sort out the fitting of the tank to the frame, it should work if you get the tank with the fuel pump etc. included.
The diameter of the fuel line quick release should be the same, and I can't really think there would be too much difference in the fuel pumps. Might be that the one from the Sportster doesn't have enough pressure.
The pump from the 2018s runs 54 - 62 psi and draws 7.5 A or less ...
Here the parts book illustrations of the fuel pump from the 2017 1200 48 and the 2018 FX.. for comparison. You might have to get a different plug for the bike to connect to the fuel pump. Looks like the Sportster is missing a float. Can't be rocket science, only a couple of wires.

Interesting project! ... Guess you will be the first one to go this way! Success and keep us updated!

Sportster may be missing the float as for the absent fuel gauge.
Prior to the 18 redesign the sportster FI tank would work with a swap of some parts,
other then Custom fitment on the backbone.
There was a custom builder some years ago, I believe out of Texas offering this on builds but has since discontinued this fabrication.
