My bike has dropped twice on me, and I have been riding since the early 80's. Once in a slow turn in a parking lot when I hit an oil spot and another time when the kick stand (jiffy) moved on me and down it went. My bike would have sustained damage had I not had my engine guard.

Another plus is that on long rides, it gives you a place to stretch your legs.
Looks like I have pretty much had my mind made up to go with engine guards. Now that I have found attachment locations looks like a pretty simple install. I want to thank everyone who was kind enough to comment and or post pics.

Just install a front fender protector. It will prevent the high way bar from making damage to the paint of the front fender when touching it during installation. I have the a protector as well for the fuel tank. Prevents those stupid scratches during work on your bike.
Have fun, send the pic when installed m.

I considered an engine guard for my Fat Boy. Never installed one because I couldn't get use to the appearance.

Front and rear crash bars.
Why wouldn't anyone want four huge pieces of chrome bolted to a Fat Boy.

That's my bike! Stock paint for a 2002 model.

Regarding the guard, those are "nostalgia" bars....slightly more rounded old school look

That is me but laying a bike down for whatever reason impacts me much more than what the bars will look like on the bike. Frankly I still am not crazy about the look on the FatBoy but I can grow into it to know there is some additional safety there. Surdyke Harley is having a sale on certain items and luckily the mustache Engine Guard guard was over 70 bucks less than my dealer or HD web site. Should be here after New Year. I will slap them in and post a pic or two. You guys be honest and tell me your opinion when I post. I know They will have to grow on me.

Personally, I wouldn't be without the bar on mine.
