Stem Nut Cover.............
I have a 2003 Night Train.
Any of you guys taken off the chrome stem nut cover? It looks like it's on there pretty good. I don't see any kind of set screw or anything so I guess it must be siliconed on.
I bought a clock that mounts over the actual stem nut and replaces the big oem cover.
I figured I'd askfor any words of whisdom herebefore Ijust wentripping into it. [sm=laughingsmilie.gif]
Thanks!

RE: Stem Nut Cover.............
Unscrew it? What a concept! [sm=laughingsmilie.gif]
I looked around for info on the stem nut cover in the manual and didn't see anything about it being screwed on or glued on or any kind of set screws.
I looked in the parts section on H-D.com and they don't even mention the chrome covers for Softails. Only Dynas and Sportsters.
OK, looks like I'll get a rag and a small pipe wrench or some big vice grips and see what happends.
Stay tuned!

RE: Stem Nut Cover.............
OK, I got a big set of channell locks and a rag. Before using the tools I wet my fingertips and screwed the cap off.
All the manual keeps saying is: "Remove the stem cap cover" or once the stem nut is tight "install the stem cap". [sm=headbang.gif]
So I get the chrome stem cap off and there's no way the clock I bought is going to fit over the actual nut.
Oh well, it was worth a shot.
Thanks for the tip!

RE: Stem Nut Cover.............
I sent the picture of the clockand the measurement ofmy stem nut to the company and they were shocked to see such a big stem nut.
The company said they sent me the largest clock they have.
Their really cool though and their gonna give me a full refund.
Oh well, my search goes on for another clock.
